CHEAP IS NOT ALWAYS NASTY!
A useful feature of most phones
that come from Hong Kong is that they come with two SIM
connectors, you can actually use two phone numbers at
the same time, however the the big problem is that the
batteries tend to drain quickly, but usually they
provide two batteries as well, they are actually quite
cheap but bare in mind that most of the phones are
imitations and even though they look like the real thing
they are certainly not for example the phones below are
Nokia N95 and Samsung M7600 Beat DJ, they look the same
and operate similar but when you start to use it
properly or download the actual drivers for the genuine
one you will find different, they run on different
chips, have smaller memory and the cameras are generally
VGA 640x480 pixels. But its the price for a good
looking phone that grabs my eye and that you can use two
networks at the same time apart from 3G.
Most of the phones can be
purchased from Ebay and the keyword are
(PDA MOBILE PHONES, PDA PHONES OR
DUAL SIM PHONES) will usually bring the lists up, and
usually there's thousands of them, also remember to shop
around on the pages as some sellers have lower free
postage which is also good and seem to be cheaper.
The imitation phone below is of a
Samsung M7600 Beat DJ phone
Its got a clear screen which is touch screen, has two
SIM connections free to any network and comes with two
batteries. The only draw backs the phones have
only 250k memory so you WILL need a memory card of
around 2, 4 or 8GB memory, I managed to get an 8GB
memory card on Ebay as well for £11.00 incl. P&P so shop
around.
The drawbacks of these phones:
They are NOT the real deal, they
are imitations
Low memory between 200k to 500k
Cameras are advertised as 2.0 mega
pixel upwards when they are only VGA
Not as much software control of
custom options :
Wallpapers are fixed, you can
change them but they usually revert back to default.
Software generally hard to install
on them, but can be done.
Batteries drain often on certain
models quickly.
Video playback only uses AVI low
resolution. (earlier codecs needed)
Good sides
They look identical to the genuine
models.
They have lots of nice features
such as Shake Control, Touch Screen, TV, 2 Sim Cards
2.0 Bluetooth, Ultra Clear
screens, Plug and Play friendly connection
Really loudspeaker, A good MP3
player with a lot of controls
And finally very cheap.
For example the
Samsung M7600 is for sale for
around £250
as you can see in the bidding I
got mine for £40 so I was happy as you say!
I think its worth it!
